A massive sphere of frozen water with visible cracks all across the surface. When it passes overhead, everything in its light becomes chilled in a bitter winter.
The Ice Moon is the closest moon to Atruxia, and as it passes overhead, it has been known to graze the tops of the tallest mountains. The Ice Moon is also one of the slowest moving moons. When it does appear in the sky, it takes months to drift from one horizon to the other. The coldest weather occurs when the moon is at its apex, especially at night. It’s path is not the same every year, so areas have varying degrees of exposure to the Ice Moon each year.
Throughout history, most local mythologies have painted the Ice Moon as a villain, an entity that hates the people of Atruxia. Only the giants that live in the far north near the glacier speak favorably of the Ice Moon. Some stories even tell of giants who have climbed the tallest mountains in order to touch the Ice Moon as it passes.
Students of magic who study the Ice Moon often learn how to manipulate water, and freeze all manner of things at will. These sometimes follow the Ice Moon’s path in order to spend more time in it’s chilling glow, however many of these wizards are carefully watched by local authorities because most locals fear that they will only worsen the Ice Moon’s winter.
